Reputable West Ham insider ExWHUemployee has claimed that manager David Moyes will not fight to keep Ryan Fredericks amid transfer speculation over the right-back’s future.
The ex-Fulham man has been cast aside somewhat since the summer arrival of Vladimir Coufal, leading to rumours that the 28-year-old won’t be around at the London Stadium for much longer. Indeed, he last played back on the final weekend of September.
Speaking on the latest edition of the West Ham Way podcast, Ex has revealed that Moyes will not fight to keep the full-back at the club in January. He said:
It’s been put out that the manager may consider letting him (Fredericks) leave. He’s happy with Coufal and Ben Johnson. I don’t think the manager is going to fight to keep him, he’s on about £75k-a-week.
Fredericks arrived at the Irons with a burgeoning reputation in 2018 after an outstanding Championship campaign with Fulham.
Unfortunately for the pacey full-back, a combination of persistent injuries and poor form have meant that things haven’t worked out as planned during his time in east London.

Fredericks could well go down as one of those ‘what might have been’ transfers for the Hammers.
After arriving on a free transfer from Fulham, the London-born defender has certainly had his moments when it seemed he had truly arrived – only to be stopped in his tracks by another setback or a dramatic dip in form.
Were the club to receive reasonable offers in January, then it is perhaps time to cut ties and allow a clearer path to first team football for one of their own in Ben Johnson.
