Newest Hammers century appearance maker Arthur Masuaku has described the squad as having a ‘different mentality’ in an interview with the club’s official website following Saturday’s 1-1 draw at home to Manchester City.
Masuaku, who himself played a pivotal role in the match as the left-wing back was given the thankless task of keeping a lid on the City attackers whilst trying to influence his own side going forwards, spoke about the positivity amongst the squad: “We have to keep going with this mentality to be hard to beat, and to win games.”
On reaching his own personal milestone, the 26-year-old said: “I’m happy to reach 100 games for West Ham, hopefully, there’s many more to come – I’m enjoying my time at the Club and I just want to keep going and playing for West Ham.”
Masuaku also touched on his relationship with manager David Moyes: “With me he talks a lot, he told me after the game how good I was and he says good things. That’s very good when you know the manager likes you. I’m just trying to play my game and give the trust back.”
The DR Congo international will be hopeful of retaining his place for the upcoming trip to Anfield to face Liverpool, another incredibly difficult challenge in what has been a tough run of fixtures for the East Londoners.

Masuaku, who divided opinion for much of his early career has found a level of consistency recently as he has enjoyed a run in the side with usual left-back Aaron Cresswell moving into the third centre-back role.
Moyes seems to have stumbled on a fruitful tactic this term with the five at the back, and Masuaku is flourishing in it.
