West Ham co-owner David Sullivan spoke to TalkSport this morning and he couldn’t rule out the possibility of the Hammers making no more signings this summer.
Asked about the likelihood of any further signings, Sullivan admitted that multiple bids have been submitted for targets, however, there is no guarantee that there will be new arrivals at the London Stadium.
So far this summer, the Hammers have only completed the deal to permanently sign Thomas Soucek from Slavia Prague following his successful loan spell.
Iron fans have been left further frustrated at the exit of winger Grady Diangana, who was allowed to join West Brom, despite the obvious talent.
Now, speaking to the radio station Sullivan has said:
We have got limited funds; if we had £400million to spend and someone said you spend 10 per cent of it, £40m, on a 28-year-old centre-back from a Premier League club who will remain nameless, at £40m, you’d probably get the player out.
The co-owner went on to say:
I cannot say for sure that we are going to sign anybody. As each day passes, I am getting more depressed.
David Moyes, who is currently self-isolating, is in desperate need of defensive reinforcements in his squad and has been widely linked with bids for James Tarkowski from Burnley, who is seemingly the unnamed defender who Sullivan is interested in.
