West Ham United had a €30m bid for Marseille midfielder Morgan Sanson rejected in the January transfer window, according to a report on Le10 Sport.
As stated in the report, the French Ligue 1 side are keen to offload some players to ensure they do not breach Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules.
However, the club’s officials believed that €30m was not enough for midfielder Sanson and turned down the offer.
The Frenchman has five goals and five assists in 27 Ligue 1 appearances this season and has netted 39 times in his entire club career so far. (Transfermarkt).
READ WEST HAM VERDICT
The Hammers were clearly keen to sign a midfielder in January and after missing out on Sanson, they identified and signed Tomas Soucek on loan with an option to buy.
We feel that the club should once again target Sanson in the summer because he could be an ideal replacement for Carlos Sanchez, who the club failed to offload in the January transfer window.
The central midfielder has also been linked with fellow top-flight club Aston Villa so there could be a battle for his signature at the end of the season.
With Marseille desperate for money, we feel the Hammers should be clever about their approach and try to negotiate a lower price for his services.
