West Ham United’s Nathan Holland has returned to the club but it’s not good news as he has been ruled out for the rest of the season.
The winger was on loan at Oxford United but suffered a hamstring injury during last weekend’s clash with Shrewsbury Town (BBC Sport).
As stated in the report, Holland has returned to the Hammers for further tests and some medical treatment.
It’s not good news because the youngster made his senior West Ham debut this season and was gaining some valuable experience in League One this term.
The 21-year-old made the loan switch in January and has already played ten times in the league for Oxford, netting twice in the process (Transfermarkt).
It’s a huge setback for the winger as he may have been hoping to force himself into West Ham’s first-team next season.
It’s also a setback for the Premier League club because he was starting to show exactly what he is capable of, but he now faces an extended period on the sidelines.
The club now has a very important decision to make about the youngster’s future as he recovers, but it’s definitely sad to see one of the club’s brightest young players receive such a devastating setback.
