The left-back position at West Ham United is still under scrutiny but after Aaron Cresswell recently put pen to paper on a contract extension, many believe Manuel Pellegrini is content with his options.

However, West Ham were linked with AC Milan’s Ricardo Rodriguez in the summer and according to Tuttosport, cited by Sport Witness, there could be a chance the Swiss international leaves in January.

The report claims Rodriguez isn’t happy with his current situation at the San Siro and he could be sold to the Premier League or Bundesliga.

It also suggests West Ham approached AC Milan for a €3million loan deal with an option to buy for around €13million.

With 149 Bundesliga and 92 Serie A games with Wolfsburg and AC Milan respectively, on top of 9 Champions League appearances, Rodriguez has plenty of experience at the highest level.

West Ham are vying to reach European football and the 27-year-old could provide the quality needed to take that extra step either this season or in the near future.

The Hammers could recruit Rodriguez on a bargain if he pushes for a departure in January, and he’d certainly bolster the current options in a position that is crying out for consistent quality.
