West Ham’s pursuit of Colombia international Gustavo Cuellar has suffered a setback after the midfielder was not granted a work permit by the Football Association.
A deal worth £24.3million had reportedly been agreed last month, and Cuellar had been expected to join his new teammates in July following the conclusion of the Copa America.
However according to Sport Witness, Cuellar has not been granted a work permit by the FA ahead of his potential move to West Ham, though the 26-year-old looks set to appeal the decision after being left surprised by the decision.

The combative midfielder was included in the squad for Colombia’s shock 2-0 victory over Lionel Messi’s Argentina in the opening game of the Copa America, though he was an unused substitute.
Cuellar currently plies his trade in Brazil with Flamengo, whom he signed for in January 2017 for a fee in the region of £1.6million from Colombian outfit Deportivo Cali.
