West Ham United are continuing their La Liga raid this summer after launching a £13m pursuit of Eibar defensive midfielder Joan Jordan, according to Sky Sports.
The Hammers have also today had a £29million bid for Celta Vigo striker Maxi Gomez accepted, and have already signed Villareal midfielder Pablo Fornals for £25m and Espanyol goalkeeper Roberto on a free.
Manuel Pellegrini is looking to heavily bolster his squad after an 11th-place Premier League finish in his debut season as manager and will now look to lead the club back into Europe.
Jordan has made 75 appearances for Eibar over the past two seasons after joining from Espanyol in 2017 and has become an integral member of the squad at the Ipurua Municipal Stadium.
West Ham will be hoping to sign the 24-year-old as midfield competition, rather than a replacement for Declan Rice with some of the country’s biggest clubs circling.
Four things you should know about Joan Jordan
Product of the Espanyol academy
Jordan made 17 appearances for Espanyol after graduating from the academy, then left for Eibar where he has grown into a true talent.
There’s no doubting he’ll be able to cope with the heavy demands of English football, making 75 appearances over two seasons at Eibar.
Jordan is mostly known for his output as a holding midfield player, but his versatility allows him to make an impact further up the pitch as a no. 8 or even a no. 10.
Jordan created the fifth-highest number of chances in La Liga this season.
