Lee Bowyer used his connections at West Ham United to take Josh Cullen to Charlton Athletic on loan last summer and he could be looking to do the same thing 12 months later.
Cullen played a pivotal role in the Addicks’ League One campaign, contributing towards seven goals as promotion to the Championship was secured via the Play-Offs.
According to South London Press, cited by HITC, Bowyer is looking to sign the 23-year-old on another season-long loan as Charlton aim to cement their second-tier status.
The dictating midfielder is expected to begin pre-season with West Ham until a decision on his future is made, which indicates Bowyer and supporters alike will have to be patient if any deal is to be struck.
Cullen, a homegrown talent, is entering the final year of his current contract at the London Stadium and, therefore, a permanent sale may be preferred by the Premier League club.
Following the departure of Edimilson Fernandes to Mainz earlier this week, Manuel Pellegrini may be looking to bolster his midfield options but is expected to dive into the transfer market to do so.
