West Ham United suffered a third straight defeat under bitter circumstances at Old Trafford on Saturday.
A few key refereeing decisions went against the Hammers as Manchester United knicked a 2-1 win thanks to two Paul Pogba penalties.
Felipe Anderson had a goal ruled offside, though Diogo Dalot looked to be just playing him on, in the first half before the hosts’ first penalty was awarded as Robert Snodgrass clattered into the back of Juan Mata on the edge of the box.
Although Anderson equalised early on in the second half, United were handed another penalty late on as Ryan Fredericks brought down Anthony Martial in a one-on-one situation inside the box.
Pogba dispatched his second spot-kick of the day to deal another major blow to West Ham’s hopes of European football.
Manuel Pellegrini won’t be disheartened by the performance though, but who have you selected as your Man of the Match?
We asked you to vote for your top performers in a duel following full-time and now it’s time to look at the results!
5 - Arthur Masuaku
Dealt with the pace of Lingard well and kicks off the top five with 42% of your votes.
4 - Fabian Balbuena
61% of your votes were for Balbuena, who never looked intimidated by United’s counter-attacking threat alongside Ogbonna.
3 - Lukasz Fabianski
One of West Ham’s players of the season performed once again at Old Trafford on the few occasions he was called into action. He’s in third with 76%.
2 - Felipe Anderson
The Brazilian should have made it 1-0 in the first-half but had a goal harshly ruled offside but did beat De Gea again to equalise in the second half. Regularly looked dangerous and received 80% of your votes.
1 - Declan Rice
Declan Rice is your Man of the Match with 85% of the vote. The young midfielder had suitors at Old Trafford before kick-off but after that display the interest only would’ve heightened. Showed no fear as he consistently broke down United attacks while presenting an array of confidence on the ball. Very impressive showing.
