Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly joined West Ham in the race to sign Celta Vigo striker Maxi Gomez.
The Hammers are believed to be admirers of the Uruguayan international, with reports during the January transfer window indicating that they were close to reaching an agreement to sign him for £40 million ahead of the summer.
Gomez’s proposed move to the London Stadium collapsed because of his reported wage demands, though, leaving his future in Spain uncertain, with Celta struggling down at the bottom of the La Liga table.

This appears to have piqued the interest of Tottenham, who, according to the printed edition of The Sunday Mirror, as cited in a report from HITC, have set their sights on the player.
Spurs striker Fernando Llorente sees his contract expire at the end of the season, leaving Mauricio Pochettino keen to add a new striker to his ranks in the summer.
Gomez appears to have emerged as the North London outfit’s top target as they bid to provide Harry Kane with sufficient competition ahead of the next campaign.
West Ham may now need to firm up their interest in the 22-year-old if they are indeed still keen to land him in the summer.
