Arsenal were believed to be favourites for his signature earlier in the season, but Newcastle appear to have overtaken them. West Ham and Tottenham have previously been credited with an interest.

Almiron has long been regarded as one of the most creative and attacking players in the MLS, earning a plenty of admirers after netting 12 times and providing 14 assists in 35 games.

Newcastle boss Rafa Benitez is said to be a fan of the player who will certainly add more creativity to the Magpies’ squad during the second half of the season.
