West Ham scouting Koutris

West Ham’s sporting director Mario Husillos spent the international breaking tracking Olympiacos defender Leonardo Koutris, the Telegraph reports.

Husillos attended Greece’s UEFA Nations League match against Finland last Thursday to watch Koutris play, with West Ham keen to sign a new left-back in the January transfer window.

Koutris’ appearance against Finland last week was his first full senior appearance for his country.

West Ham manager Manuel Pellegrini has struggled to be convinced by either Arthur Masuaku or Aaron Cresswell in the left-back position this season and could make a January move for Koutris.

Despite showing a lot of promise, the 23-year-old is probably most known for being dropped from a stretch twice back in 2015 when injury.

When playing for Ergotelis, Koutris twice fell off the stretcher before being put down on the side of the pitch by medical staff in a video that went viral on social media. At the time, Ergotelis issued a formal complaint about Koutris’ treatment.
