Money from Anderson deal being withheld due to Brazilian legal dispute

Part of the fee West Ham coughed up for Felipe Anderson remains unpaid, as a legal dispute rages in Brazil.

Anderson’s agent Giuliano Bertolucci is embroiled in the saga that involves his client’s former club Santos.

Bertolucci is understood to have loaned Santos several million Brazilian real a few years ago, in what is supposedly a common occurrence in the country.

Sport Witness claim Santos are yet to repay Bertolucci in full, with the agent now trying to stake a claim to the slice of the €38 million West Ham paid Lazio for the services of Anderson.

With Santos set to receive between €2.8 and €4 million from the fee, Bertolucci is petitioning for the courts to block the payment and instead send €2 million straight to him.

Next time you bemoan West Ham’s ownership situation, remember that the club aren’t borrowing money from agents to stay afloat!
