West Ham bid €20 million for Marlon Santos during the summer transfer window, according to a report in Mundo Deportivo (translated by Sport Witness).
The Brazilian centre-half was linked with a move to the Premier League over the summer, with Newcastle being the team rumoured to be leading the way on deadline day.

However, issues surrounding a work permit meant that the 22-year-old would have to remain with Barcelona for the immediate future.
Signed from Fluminense in 2016, Santos has yet to appear for Barca’s senior team, but spent the 2017-18 season on loan at Nice.
Making 23 appearances, Santos impressed in his time at Nice but manager Patrick Vieira opted not to sign the defender at the end of the campaign.
Manuel Pellegrini was interested in bringing the Brazil U20 star to the London Stadium, but realisations that obtaining a work permit would prove exceedingly difficult meant the Irons abandoned their pursuit of Santos.
