Hammers eye Lemina move to replace departing Obiang

West Ham could turn their attention to Mario Lemina as they search for a replacement for Spanish midfielder Pedro Obiang.

As per a report from Sky Sports, the Hammers have set their sights on the Saints midfielder with Obiang closing in on a move to Italy.

The Spanish midfielder is set to join Sampdoria in a deal worth around £9 million, which will leave West Ham in the market for a replacement.

Lemina has been heavily linked with a move away from St Mary’s this summer, with Tottenham and Napoli drawing links to the player.

The Gabonese midfielder only joined Southampton last summer, but he struggled to adapt during his first season in the Premier League.

The 24-year-old made just 20 Premier League starts after struggling with injuries throughout the campaign.

The Saints will be keen to keep hold of the player and avoid losing him to a team they would consider a domestic rival.
