West Ham are reportedly keen to sign Lyon central defender Marcelo this summer.
It’s believed by French news outlet Foot Mercato that the Hammers have expressed a strong interest in the centre-back, and would be prepared to spend £15 million to sign him.
West Ham have been moving quickly in the summer transfer window so far and have already made significant improvements to their defensive structure.
Since his arrival at the club, Manuel Pellegrini has already seen the signings of Lukasz Fabianski, Ryan Fredericks and Issa Diop secured, with the latter joining from Toulouse in a club-record deal.
The Hammers have also allegedly made a big-money move for Newcastle United defender Jamaal Lascelles. Despite their £25m offer apparently being rejected by Newcastle, it seems West Ham are in the market for another centre-back this summer.
Marcelo enjoyed a strong season at Lyon and although Foot Mercato claim that contact between the clubs has not yet been initiated, the interest is presented as concrete.
