West Ham target Joe Allen pens new Stoke deal

West Ham’s search for a central midfielder once again has seen them come up dry as a long-time target, Joe Allen has agreed a new four year deal at Stoke City.

The Welshman has been linked with moves away from the Bet365 Stadium this summer and West Ham were one of the teams interested in Allen.

Stoke confirmed the news via their Twitter account this morning.

West Ham have been searching for a holding midfielder for some time. Last summer, they were chasing Portugal international William Carvalho but they couldn’t agree on a deal and that meant the Hammers reluctantly admitted defeat in their pursuit for him.

Stoke have been forced to put their hands in their pockets to convince the Welshman to stay with the club in the Championship as they set their sights on an immediate return.
