West Ham looking to renegotiate Marlon deal with Barcelona

West Ham are reportedly looking to renegotiate their existing offer to sign Marlon Santos from Barcelona this summer.

It’s claimed by Spanish news outlet Mundo Deportivo that after offering a sum of €15 million for the central defender, the Hammers are keen to hold further talks with Barcelona over a potentially lower price.

The Catalan giants have set a €25 million price tag for Marlon, according to the report from Mundo Deportivo, but West Ham are evidently looking to spend significantly less than this.

Manuel Pellegrini wants to sign more defensive quality this summer and has begun strengthening his back-line, with the addition of Ryan Fredericks from Fulham confirmed earlier this month.

Marlon spent last season on loan at OGC Nice in France and turned in some impressive displays, with West Ham’s interest evidently being piqued.

Discussions between West Ham and Barcelona appeared to be progressing well but it seems, following new claims from Spain, there is still some work to be done if the Hammers are to get a deal over the line.
