Reported West Ham target Jack Grealish is the subject of a unique bid from Chelsea, according to TEAMTalk.
The Aston Villa midfielder enjoyed a superb season in the Championship, but saw his club fall just short of promotion to the Premier League with a 1-0 defeat in the playoff final to Fulham.
With Villa now facing financial doom, they seem destined to lose the 22-year-old in the summer transfer window.
Although an asking price of £40 million is reported to have been set by the Midlanders, Grealish is unlikely to command such a sum.
In the chase to sign the Birmingham-native, Chelsea believe they have a bid with a distinct advantage.
A £30 million fee would include the loaning of Grealish back to Villa for the 2018/19 season, as the club aim to make their promotion charge a successful one this time around.
It would also give Grealish the chance to continue playing first team football, something he has evidently benefited from to this point in his career.
New manager Manuel Pellegrini may choose to back down in the race for the former GAA star’s signature, should he deem the price to be excessive.
