Manuel Lanzini ruptures his ACL whilst on international duty

West Ham United forward Manuel Lanzini has ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee whilst on international duty with Argentina.

The injury obviously rules the 25-year-old out of the World Cup and he’ll miss a large portion of the next Premier League season too.

Lanzini suffered the injury in a pre-World Cup training session and he’ll be devastated to miss out on the tournament.

His injury will be a huge blow to new manager Manuel Pellegrini, who would certainly have had the Argentinian in his plans for his first season in charge at the London Stadium.

There is no word on the severity of the injury at this stage but Lanzini is likely to be out until 2019 at the earliest, as the recovery period for ACL injuries is often a long one.
