Pellegrini at odds with West Ham board

New West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini is already at odds with the club’s board, according to the Mirror.

Pellegrini is believed to already be unhappy with the amount of transfer target requests that the Hammers hierarchy have turned down.

The former Manchester City boss told friends last month that West Ham chiefs had made him several promises with regards to transfers when they appointed him, but he believes that the hierarchy are now going back on their word.

Speaking back in his native Chile this week, Pellegrini hinted at the tension within the club:

The challenge with West Ham is spectacular. Now I will force the owners to form a competitive team because they are rich but careful with money.

We are trying to get the owner to loosen up to make an important investment and thus bring the players we need. The idea is to sign a great figure.

If we manage to get a big figure it is very important for the status of the club because that will help convince other players.

Upon appointing Pellegrini, Hammers co-owner David Gold had pledged that the club would “probably spend more money in this window than we’ve spent in any window in the past.”

The Chilean was expected to have a transfer budget of around £75million to play with but it could now prove to be far less than this with him having seen many of his player target suggestions rebuked.
