David Gold claims West Ham will spend more than ever before
West Ham co-owner David Gold has said the club are planning a big transfer window this summer as he plans to give new manager Manuel Pellegrini the best possible chance of success.
Speaking to talkSPORT, Gold said:
What I can assure everybody is that we’ll probably spend more money in this window than any other window in the past He’s identified the positions that he thinks he needs to strengthen and its up to him now to tell us the players.
The Hammers spent almost £25 million on Marko Arnautovic last summer, making him their club record signing.
The Austrian was arguably West Ham’s best player throughout the season after finishing the club’s top scorer on 11 goals, the most by a single West ham player since Bobby Zamora in 2007.
Pellegrini will be expecting to have money to spend and has already been linked with moves for former players Salomon Rondon and Yaya Toure, neither whom would come cheap.
