Pellegrini’s arrival could secure Mario return

West Ham’s chances of re-signing Joao Mario lie with appointing the right manager, reports the Daily Star.

If the East London club appoints Manuel Pellegrini like expected, it would enhance their chances of bringing the Portuguese player back to them this summer.

The star power the Chilean holds would indicate the Hammers are set for a better season ahead and tempt Mario to want to return to the London Stadium.

The 25-year-old went to the club on loan in January, making 13 appearances and scoring two goals in that time.

His agent, Kia Joorabchian, is trying to gain his client a move away from Inter Milan and has already held talks with Manchester United.

The Red Devils are looking to spend money to rival Manchester City next season, and a strong World Cup from Mario could see him move to Old Trafford.

West Ham fans will want him back, and doing that would show real signs of intent going into next season.
