Rangers amongst host of clubs targeting Reece Burke

West Ham youngster Reece Burke is reportedly a target for Steven Gerrard’s Rangers, according to The Mirror.

Earlier in the week, Rangers made the first signing of the Gerrard era, bringing in Scott Arfield from Burnley.

Gerrard now sees Reece Burke as another potential Rangers suitor and wants to bring the youngster to the Ibrox from his boyhood club, West Ham.

It waits to be seen whether the Hammers wish to cash in on Burke now or send him out on loan again to gain more first team experience.

However it is believed that should they make a move for Burke, Rangers would want the defender on a permanent deal.

Burke has been impressive while on loan at Championship side Bolton Wanderers, and he was an integral part of Wanderers staying up on the last day of the season.

However, his impressive performances in a Bolton and West Ham shirt have attracted further interest, with Championship side Sheffield Wednesday also being heavily linked with the player.

Leeds United, Reading and Aston Villa are all also reportedly monitoring the 21-year-old’s situation at West Ham.
