West Ham eye summer swoop for Alfie Mawson

West Ham United are ready to reignite their interest in signing Alfie Mawson from Swansea City this summer, according to a report from the Guardian.

Mawson’s side were consigned to relegation down to the Championship on the final day of the season as they were defeated by Stoke 2-1, leaving them in 18th place at the end of the campaign.

However, according to the Guardian’s report, Mawson is intent on remaining in the Premier League next season and will look to secure a move away from the Liberty Stadium.

Despite Swansea’s poor season, Mawson was once again a standout performer and appears to have attracted plenty of interest ahead of the summer transfer window, which opens this Thursday.

West Ham wanted to sign Mawson in January but were priced out of a move. This may not be the case in the coming weeks, however, with the Swans reportedly valuing their star defender at £20 million.
