West Ham are reportedly in the race to sign versatile Genoa star Diego Laxalt this month.
According to an exclusive report from Italian news outlet TMW, the Hammers are among a host of clubs keeping tabs on the Uruguayan’s situation at Genoa ahead of a possible late move.
Laxalt is capable of playing at both left-back and at left midfield, making him a favourable option for a club such as West Ham, given David Moyes’ recent tendencies to operate with wing-backs.
It will not be an easy signing to secure for West Ham, though, as TMW explain that several clubs are keen to land him. Serie A trio Atalanta, Torino and Fiorentina are also keen, along with Turkish giants Galatasaray.
More notably, though, it’s stated in the report that Roma want to sign Laxalt, as they view him as an appropriate replacement for Emerson Palmieri.
Brazilian left-back Emerson appears to be on the verge of a move to Chelsea.
