David Moyes aiming to get the best out of Marko Arnautovic

West Ham United manager David Moyes is keen to get the best out of Marko Arnautovic, the Mirror reports.

The Austrian international has been nothing short of underwhelming since joining the Hammers from Stoke City in the summer for a club-record fee worth a reported £24 million.

Arnautovic is yet to contribute with a goal or an assist in West Ham colours and was sent off in his second game for the club for an elbow on Southampton’s Jack Stephens.

Moyes is evidently aware of the talent that Arnautovic possesses but is keen to help him become more of a team player, rather than merely an individual.

I can’t comment on the earlier games. I can only go on what people have told me and they didn’t think he has come up to the standard he set at Stoke City. I watched him a lot at Stoke.

I thought he looked like the sort of player you would never be keen to play against, if you’re a right full-back because of his power and strength and what he can do.

But he also has to be a team player. The clips I have seen at times, he has not looked a team player. He would not be the only one I would say that about. The other players also have to do the work for the team if they want to be part of it.

Arnautovic’s attitude has come under fire for a long time now and West Ham’s move for him in the summer was regarded as something of a risk given his controversial background.

However, Moyes is confident that he can help the winger reach the heights he did at Stoke on a consistent basis.
