West Ham captain Mark Noble has praised Andre Ayew following the dramatic 3-2 win over Tottenham Hotspur, Goal reports.
The Hammers progressed to the last eight of the Carabao Cup with a win over their London rivals, in what was a hugely dramatic encounter at Wembley Stadium.
Spurs took a two-goal lead through strikes from Moussa Sissoko and Dele Alli, but a second-half turnaround saw West Ham come away with the bragging rights.
Ayew netted a quickfire brace, before Angelo Ogbonna rose highest with 20 minutes to spare, handing the visitors a shock advantage, which proved to be decisive.
Noble lauded Ayew’s goals as “fantastic”, and hailed his determination and drive to bounce back from previous criticism to show his quality going forward for the club.
We had a fantastic ball in from the corner [for Ogbonna’s goal], but the others, we’ve seen this from ‘Dre before. He knows where the ball is going to drop. They were two fantastic goals from him.
He has had a bit of stick, this player, but he’s kept on grinding and he deserves that tonight.
The Hammers will now face yet another difficult away trip in the Carabao Cup, as they take on Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium in the quarter finals of the competition.
