West Ham manager Slaven Bilic has heaped the praise on goalkeeper Adrian.
As quoted by the club’s official website, the Croatian tactician lauded Adrian as a “great professional”, and commended the way he has gone about the recent speculation surrounding his future.
If I was a player on the bench and wasn’t playing I wouldn’t expect to say I was happy to not be playing. It’s a positive thing that he wants to play.
Adrian has been heavily linked with a move away from the London Stadium in recent months, with Joe Hart’s arrival on loan from Manchester City having pushed him down in the goalkeeping pecking order.
However, as Bilic has cited, the Spaniard has been exemplary in his conduct since Hart’s arrival, and is evidently still valued highly at West Ham.
All the players want to play and be regular. That’s why they are top sportsmen. We need a good squad though and we need a second good goalkeeper.
England international Hart has been in good form in recent times, and has contributed to West Ham’s solid defensive run of late.
Adrian is a great professional and is acting and behaving in the way I wanted. I’ve spoken a few times with him about it and he’s very good in training. He’s working hard to get his chance.
Adrian certainly has a huge task on his hands if he is looking to displace Hart from between the posts in the near future, but Hammers fans will be encouraged by the fact that he’s working hard to get back into the starting line-up.
