West Ham are set to sue Sporting CP director Nuno Saraiva following his comments on the two sides’ failed transfer involving William Carvalho, according to Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solhekol.
Twitter: West Ham suing Sporting Lisbon comms director Nuno Saraiva for libel after he claimed West Ham never made an offer for William Carvalho (@SkyKaveh)
Saraiva published a strong statement explaining the broken down deal for Carvalho, and even went as far as to insist that West Ham didn’t even lodge a concrete offer.

This, however, in West Ham’s eyes isn’t the case, as it was clear that they were pursuing the Portugal international for a considerable chunk of August.
The two sides could not reach an agreement over what was claimed to be a fee in the region of £35m, and therefore saw Carvalho remain as a Sporting player.
West Ham have understandably reacted badly to Saraiva’s comments and are now to sue the director for libel.
