Crystal Palace chasing West Ham’s Jose Fonte

Crystal Palace are weighing up an £8million deal for West Ham United defender Jose Fonte, according to Dean Jones of Bleacher Report.

Fonte only completed a move to West Ham from Southampton in January, but The Hammers are said to be willing to move him on after a tough couple of months in London for the Portuguese international.

Fonte has started just one Premier League game so far this season – West Ham’s 3-2 defeat to his former club Southampton, in which he gave away a penalty.

Frank De Boer is keen to add to his Palace defence this week before the summer transfer window closes.

Fonte, who spent three seasons as a Crystal Palace player from 2007 to 2010, failed to make West Ham’s starting 11 against Newcastle United at the weekend which has alerted Palace to his possible availability.

Palace have lost all three of their opening Premier League games, conceding six goals. The South Londoners are also yet to score this campaign.
