The Bleacher Report journalist claims that Middlesbrough are close to clinching a deal to take Fletcher away from West Ham.
Middlesbrough were reported to be readying a £7m bid for the striker early Wednesday morning, with the deal seemingly progressing throughout the day.
Watford, Huddersfield and Norwich were also thought to be interested in signing the forward.
However, they were keen on a loan move, with West Ham wanting to move Fletcher away permanently.
Fletcher now looks set for a move away from West Ham this summer as he seeks regular game-time.
The 21-year-old has impressed in sporadic appearances for Slaven Bilic’s side but has failed to nail down a starting role for the Premier League outfit.
The signing of Javier Hernandez appears to have given him the green light to leave the club.
