After appearing on Talksport this morning, West Ham co-chairman David Sullivan revealed that the club are not looking at signing another midfielder amid links with a move for Jack Wilshere.
The 68-year-old talked all things West Ham on the show and expressed his delight after recently bagging Mexican striker Javier Hernandez, as well as fellow summer signing Pablo Zabaleta, Joe Hart and club-record buy Marko Arnautovic.
Whether there will be more transfers for the Hammers is uncertain but Sullivan made it clear in regards to adding Wilshere, or any other midfielder, it remains unlikely:
I can’t comment on players from other clubs but all I would say is midfield is not a position were looking for.
This news could bring confidence to youngsters such as Josh Cullen and Edmilson Fernandes, as they look to prove themselves in pre-season to earn a bigger role in the first-team squad next season.

Cullen, in particular, has impressed during the Hammers pre-season after being offered the chance to play from manager Slaven Bilic with a loan move put on hold for the time being.
Whether David Sullivan and the rest of the recruitment team change their mind on signing a midfielder is uncertain but Hammers fans are certainly enjoying the transfer window so far, it’s even being called the most exciting time for the club in years.
