West Ham United have contacted German Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen over a possible transfer of ex-Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez who has a £13m release clause in his contract, according to Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solhekol.
The striker only has 12 months remaining on his contract at the German club and is yet to agree a new deal and West Ham hope that they can lure the goalscorer to the Premier League.

Leverkusen would rather cash in on the forward than let him leave on a free transfer next summer so the possibility of a deal with the Hammers is quite likely to progress.
Hernandez played for Mexico in the Confederations Cup over the last few weeks as his side were dumped out of the competition in the semi-final but he showed his lethal instinct in front of goal as he struck against Portugal.

The 29-year-old is the latest striker to be targeted by Hammers’ boss Slaven Bilic as the manager looks to add firepower up front after a disappointing campaign in front of goal last season.
The striker was sold by Manchester United to Bayer Leverkusen in 2015 by Louis Van Gaal which didn’t go down well with fans as he was a fan favourite at Old Trafford.

He gained a reputation of being a super-sub during his time at United after he scored on numerous occasions after emerging from the bench.
The Hammers will be hoping to bring Chicharito to London as he is a proven goalscorer in the Premier League.
