West Ham still keen on Defrel swoop

West Ham are eyeing a move for Sassuolo striker Gregoire Defrel, reports Tuttomercatoweb.

The Hammers are among a host of Premier League sides keen on the Frenchman, but face competition from the likes of Tottenham, Leicester and Southampton.

With Slaven Bilic’s side seeming weak in the goalscoring department, Defrel could be an ideal for signing for the East London club. His 14 goal haul last season helped Sassuolo end the Serie A campaign 12th, and he also left his mark on the UEFA Europa League.

The 26-year-old is valued at £18 million, with Italian outfit Roma also said to be interested in signing the striker, as they look to replace Liverpool’s new signing Mohammed Salah.

West Ham are yet to kick off their summer spending, but have been linked with other strikers this summer, with Arsenal talisman Olivier Giroud and Everton-bound KAS Eupen wonderkid Henry Onyekuru also reported to be on Slaven Bilic’s wishlist.

With the goals drying up at The London Stadium, a striker will be West Ham’s priority.
