Feghouli reveals Bilic talks in January

West Ham winger Sofiane Feghouli has admitted that he held talks with Slaven Bilic in January over the possibility of a move away.

The Algerian, speaking to Compétition while away on international duty, discussed his future plans and spoke of the reassurances Bilic made to him in the winter window, given that his position at West Ham was under some serious scrutiny.

During the winter transfer window, I had quite a few offers, and I decided to have a frank discussion with the manager to see if he counted on me or not since I needed time on the pitch to show what I was worth.

Feghouli failed to convince in large chunks of the season just gone, but picked up in form towards the end of his maiden campaign with the Hammers.

Signed from Valencia on a free back in the summer of 2016, the 27-year-old hasn’t had the desired effect on proceedings since his move to the London Stadium, but has certainly shown glimpses of quality.

He reassured me, telling me that I shouldn’t leave and that he trusted me. He even told me that he would give me a shot and that I needed to to continue to work like I was doing.

West Ham fans and Feghouli will be hoping that consistency and a higher standard will be found next season as the club look to avoid another underwhelming campaign in the top flight.
