West Ham are set to make a move for Darmstadt’s out of contract winger Marcel Heller as they look to strengthen their squad before the start of the new Premier League season, according to a report on Football London.
The winger’s contract at Darmstadt is about to expire and a number of clubs are said to be monitoring his situation, with West Ham showing the most concrete interest in an attempt to lure the player to London.
Heller, 31, won back-to-back promotions with Darmstadt. He was impressive this season and scored four goals in all competitions. The German international player also registered three assists.
The winger can also play as a full-back, offering Slaven Bilic a different option should he change his formation at West Ham. Bilic is going to have to make a decision on the player soon as there has been reported interest from Premier League rivals Burnley.
Heller has never represented Germany at international level, however he has played with the likes of Mesut Ozil and Jerome Boateng for the under-21 side.
West Ham have already signed Argentine full-back Pablo Zabaleta on a free transfer from Manchester City.
