Hammers target Cairns signs new Fleetwood deal

West Ham have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of Fleetwood Town goalkeeper Alex Cairns after he signed a new contract with the club.

The Daily Mail claimed last week that West Ham were eyeing up a move for Cairns to solve their goalkeeping woes.

Neither Adrian nor Darren Randolph have managed to win over the fans, or the manager, this season and both look set to be replaced ahead of the upcoming campaign.

However, with these new developments, it appears as though the man to replace them will not be Fleetwood Town’s goalkeeper.

The League One side announced last night that Cairns had signed a new long-term contract with the club.

This is likely to put to an end the rumours surrounding his future at the club, meaning West Ham will have to move on to other goalkeeping targets.

Cairns was also announced as Fleetwood’s fans’ player of the season at their awards night.
