West Ham United youth coach Terry Westley has compared January signing Nathan Holland to Manchester United icon, Ryan Giggs.
Speaking on the club’s official website, Westley gave his verdict on the former Everton midfielder who has made an instant impact since joining the club. Speaking after their 2-0 win over Fulham, Westley delivered some high praise for the exciting young winger.
I’d probably say Nathan Holland [was brilliant], particularly in the first half. What a talent we’ve got on our hands. He was skipping past players, reminding me of a really young Ryan Giggs. I think he particularly caught people eyes tonight.
Holland has scored three goals in three appearances and recently scored in the club’s U23s side’s first game at the London Stadium.
The 18-year-old winger joined the club during the January transfer window from Everton on a three-and-a-half year deal. He was yet to make a senior appearance for the Toffees prior to joining the club.
Holland has been capped for England at both U17 level as well as U19s but was put straight into the Hammers’ U23 side.
Should the player keep up this form, it won’t be long until West Ham fans see him edging closer to the first-team squad.
