According to an emerging report from Italian news outlet Tutto Mercato Web, West Ham have been rivalled by Napoli in their chase for Sassuolo striker Gregoire Defrel.
The French forward has been in very good form in Serie A so far this season, catching the eye of many with some glittering performances up front for the Italian side and subsequently attracting plenty of interest from elsewhere.
It’s unsurprising to see Napoli join the chase for the forward, given their ongoing striker crisis due to injuries.
However, West Ham are arguably in just as great a need for a clinical marksman as Napoli are, with Simone Zaza, formerly of Sassuolo himself, failing to live up to the expectations set of him prior to his move.
The report from TMW states that Defrel will not come cheap, though. The Italian site claims that Slaven Bilic will have to cough up a fee of €18 million to lure the 25-year-old to the London Stadium.
