French manager Rudi Garcia has claimed that he was approached by West Ham for the managerial post recently, but he chose to take the Marseille job, according to L’Equipe, as tweeted by GFFN.

The Hammers are in poor shape at the moment and are sitting dangerously near the foot of the table, but they will look to push on from their win over Crystal Palace last weekend.

Slaven Bilic has come under fire for such poor form at the helm of West Ham so far this season and it now seems that Garcia was being heavily considered to take charge of the club.
Garcia is now in charge of Ligue 1 side Marseille, in his homeland, having been out of the job since his dismissal at Roma.
Bilic and his West Ham side will hope to take an important three points at the London Stadium today as they take on a struggling Sunderland side.
