West Ham monitoring Wilfried Bony

West Ham monitoring Wilfried Bony

According to an emerging report from The Mirror this afternoon, West Ham are monitoring Wilfried Bony’s situation at Manchester City as they continue to ponder a move.

The Ivory Coast international has had a torrid time at City since his big-money move from Swansea City and it looks like an exit from the Etihad beckons this month.

West Ham have tried to sign Bony in the past while he was at Vitesse Arnhem, but opted to move for Andy Carroll while the Ivorian joined Swansea.

It’s become clear that Bony isn’t really in Pep Guardiola’s plans for the coming seasons and so it’s for the best that the powerful centre-forward seeks pastures new with a move this summer.

Bony has never really been able to hit top form in a City shirt, despite his outstanding displays for Swansea subsequent to his move to Manchester.

It’s also no secret that West Ham are still very much in the market for a striker and this has been enforced, also, by the long-term injury sustained by record signing Andre Ayew on his Hammers’ debut, which will keep him out of action for four months.

Bony has been left out of City’s Champions League squad for the coming season if they are to progress through the play-off round, which is incredibly likely after their 5-0 battering of Steaua Bucharest last night, implying that the towering forward could be available for a move this month.
