West Ham are set to miss out on Jerome Onguene after Norwich agreed a £2.8m fee with Sochaux for the defender.
According to the Daily Mail, West Ham were interested in the defender, but Norwich now look set to sign the Frenchman.
The report says that Norwich are now holding talks with Onguene after they agreed the deal with Sochaux, with the defender on hand to watch Norwich’s 0-0 draw with Sheffield Wednesday at the weekend.
Sunderland, Crystal Palace and Aston Villa were all also keen on the defender. However, they are all now set to miss out as Norwich look to close in on the signing.
Onguene, despite being just 18-years-old, played 32 times for Sochaux in Ligue 2 last season and is seen as one of France’s next best defenders.
He won the u19 European Championships with France this summer and was one of the standout players during the tournament.
This deal is expected to go through sooner rather than later, with it possibly being completed this week.
