West Ham have failed in their efforts to land Inter Milan’s sporting director Piero Ausilio this summer.
According to Italian source Calciomercato, the Hammers, along with Tottenham, Bologna and Sampdoria have all made approaches to recruit Ausilio in recent times but the Italian has given the same response each time: thanks, but no thanks.
The 41-year-old has been working at Inter Milan for over 18 years, first starting out as a youth coordinator between 1998 and 2010 before becoming a sporting director at the club.

He worked alongside Inter’s head of technical director, Marco Branca, for the next three and a half years before taking the reigns from Branco in February 2014.
Ausilio is considered one of the best sporting directors in Italian football because of his devotion to Inter Milan and high work-ethic.
Only contracted to Inter Milan until the summer of 2017, Inter’s new owners, the Suning Group, have realised that Ausilio is an integral part of the club’s set-up behind the scenes and want to tie him down to a new deal.
However, Inter’s rivals, AC Milan, are also preparing a swoop for Ausilio. The new CEO of Milan, Marco Fassone, worked alongside Ausilio for many years at Inter and would like to bring him in.
If he does not sign a new deal by October, Ausilio assess his options and consider other proposals for his services.
