Davide Santon flying in for West Ham medical

Inter Milan defender Davide Santon is flying in to London today to hold talks with West Ham and complete a medical, ESPN sources believe.

West Ham are looking to sign a fullback or two after Aaron Cresswell was sidelined for up to four months with a knee ligament injury suffered in pre-season against Karlsruher.

Santon, able to play right-back or left-back, was linked with a move to Sunderland earlier this summer before he move fell through after talks with the club.

The former Newcastle star has great Premier League experience and is the ideal signing for West Ham who are looking to bring him in on loan with a view to buy.

The Hammers have offered Inter Milan £460,000 to take the 25-year-old on a season-long loan with a view to buy for £5m at any point over the next 12 months.

Capped eight times by Italy, Santon started nine of Inter’s first 10 league games last season before missing a month of action with an ankle injury and he never regained his place fully after that, making just 13 appearances in all competitions in total.
