West Ham target Martin Olsson is looking to leave Norwich City this summer, according to his agent.
Olsson’s agent, Hasan Cetinkaya, has claimed that Olsson is not prepared to play in the Championship for Norwich and wants to move back to the Premier League this summer.
As quoted by the Eastern Daily Press, Cetinkaya said this:
The danger for them (Norwich) is that Martin can write in a “pre-contract” in a few months. Then they don’t get a dime. We would prefer that he leave now and get well paid.
Martin is very clear that he does not want to play in the Championship and he wants to take the next step. He would particularly like to play in the Premier League, when he was so good in the Championship too. Martin is not a Championship player. But we do not give up. We are optimistic.
West Ham had a £3m bid rejected for Olsson yesterday, with Norwich valuing the defender at £5m.
Olsson has just one year left on his Norwich contract, with the club eager for him not to leave on a free contract next summer. It is now clear that Olsson is unwilling to stay at Norwich, which means that he will not sign a new deal.
This means that a switch away from the club this summer appears to be the best option. This will come as good news to West Ham, who are hoping to land the defender this summer as a replacement for Aaron Cresswell.
