Jonathan Calleri’s loan move includes an exit clause

The deal which will see Deportivo Maldonado striker Jonathan Calleri join West Ham on loan will include an interesting clause.

According to South American football journalist Cesar Merlo, “the loan will be for one year, but there will be an exit clause after 6 months if another club wants to buy him.”

Merlo confirmed earlier today that Jonathan Calleri will join West Ham on a season-long loan with an option to buy, despite late interest from Barcelona.

Maldonado signed Calleri from Boca Juniors in January and immediately loaned him to Sao Paulo where he scored 16 goals in 31 appearances and was the top scorer in the Copa Libertadores.

West Ham have been waiting for the 22-year-old striker to receive a work permit for his loan move to be finalised, according to Jack Sullivan, but it’s believed that this is just a formality and the deal will go through.
