West Ham have opened talks with FC Copenhagen over the transfer of highly-rated defender Ludwig Augustinsson this summer.
According to Aftonbladet, the 22-year-old is wanted by the Hammers as a replacement for the injured Aaron Cresswell.
The Englishman suffered a knee ligament injury in a heavy challenge during West Ham’s 3-0 win over Karlsruher whilst on their pre-season tour of Austria and after a medical assessment it has been decided that Cresswell will miss three to four months of action.

As a result, the Hammers are drawing up a shortlist of possible replacements who can fill the void certainly in the short-term at least. It was in West Ham’s summer plans to sign a left-back to develop and compete with Cresswell but now they’re looking for a more experienced, first-team ready player..
Augustinsson was selected to Sweden’s Euro 2016 squad following an impressive season with Danish side FC Copenhagen and has also been linked with a move to the Premier League with Liverpool, says the Mirror.
The Hammers are believed to be in negotiations to sign Augustinsson this summer and want a deal wrapped up sooner rather than later as their next in-line left-back is Lewis Page, an academy graduate who’s yet to make an appearance in the Premier League.
