Leicester and West Ham going head-to-head for Rico Henry

West Ham and Leicester are going head-to-head for the signing of highly-rated Walsall defender Rico Henry, according to the Express and Star.

Henry is one of the most sought-after talents in the Football League after an impressive breakthrough season with the Saddlers and was nominated for the Football League’s Young Player of the Year award which was given to Leeds star Lewis Cook, who has since joined Bournemouth.

The 19-year-old is likely to leave the club this summer and reportedly could be had for as little as £1.5m, with Leicester leading West Ham in the race for his signature.

West Ham have Aaron Cresswell as their established left-back at the club, missing just two games in two years since signing from Ipswich Town for a reported fee of £3.5m.

But, should he get injured, the Hammers are short of options. Angelo Ogbonna filled in at left-back in Cresswell’s absence last season, while academy product Lewis Page would be the next-man-up after Stephen Hendrie left to join Blackburn on a season-long loan.

The England youth international would be a great developmental option behind Cresswell who can surely bring Henry along and teach him a few things.
